Properly Fitted Bra = Good Breast Health Habits

Picture

Imagine wearing a bra that is actually comfortable!  A bra that's not too tight and not too loose.  A bra that's cups are not gapping...and also not overflowing.  A bra with straps constructed to STAY PUT, not leave you tugging on them all day through.  Imagine wearing a bra that you don't want to rip off you body as soon as you get home.  Making this "dream" your reality is our focus at Bare Moxie.

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are more focused than ever on breast health and what we, as women, can do to keep our breasts as healthy as possible.  Of course, the most important thing for every woman to do is to conduct personal breast exams monthly and see your doctor for regular mammograms.  But there is one more thing you can do to help improve and maintain your breast health and it has to do with the undergarment that you choose to wear each day - your bra!

Our number one concern, as Certified Bra Fitters, is to confirm "Are You Wearing the Proper Size?"  Up to 80% of all women in the United States "think" they are wearing a properly sized bra....but are not.  It is certainly not our fault ladies!!  We typically shop in stores that don't go beyond to DDD (F) Cup size, so if we have asked for help/sized ourselves in those shops (but are legitimately a larger cup size than they offer), we have likely sacrificed a snug band to gain some additional room in the cup.  Even if you are a smaller cup size...chances are that if you have felt discomfort in your bra, you have "self-diagnosed" the problem and increased your band size.  The issue with that is that anytime your bra band is larger than you truly require - you are sacrificing support AND may be causing damage to your breast tissue in the process.  When wearing a properly fitted bra, ALL of your breast tissue should be contained within the cup and the underwire (assuming it is an underwire bra) should be resting on bone behind your breast tissue.  If this is not the case, you can end up with lumps, bumps, and in some cases an ill fitting bra can even impair lymphatic drainage - causing your body to retain toxins it should be removing from your system.  A properly fitted bra will help prevent all of these issues.

SO...Once you are sized, it is safe to assume that your size will never change, right?  NO - - it really doesn't work that way.  We recommend that customers get professionally sized annually.  Women's bodies are constantly in motion - - we gain weight, lose weight and just redistribute weight - so it is important to make sure our measurements have remained consistent.  Even if your measurements have not changed - so much of obtaining a proper fit has to do with knowing how bra fits vary from brand to brand and style to style.  Customers often ask us, "Why don't you have an online shop?" but after visiting us in the store and trying on 15 bras to find 2 that they LOVE, they quickly understand our "Why".  Our goal isn't to sell you something that you are not comfortable wearing....our goal is to DELIGHT YOU:

1.  With our SERVICE (Certified Fitters are Always On-Site)
2.  With your FIT
3.  With our STYLES & COLOR SELECTIONS
4.  With our PRICES

Because we carry such a wide variety of sizes (28-54" Bands and Cups C-M), we are able to FIT you properly into what works best to support your breasts in a healthy way.  We also carry Sports Bras, Nursing Bras, and a nice variety of Mastectomy Bras (with pockets) that are as beautiful as they are functional.

Stop into Bare Moxie for a complimentary fitting and let us help you "Find Your Curve" and the best fit of your life!  Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are always welcome.

Everyone have their insecurities. Nobody is perfect. We all fight with Disappointments all our lives. But Instead of thinking its end of the world for us we should be positive and try to solve the problem with a positive attitude.

A new healthcare paradigm that focuses on health promotion rather than treating medical conditions after symptoms appear requires a new language. The term "medical home" put forth in the current Affordable Care Act does not support a changing health reform paradigm. The term "health hub" reflects more accurately the focus and intention of the Act, which is reducing cost through earlier health assessment and coordinating care.
